The Introduction of Ruscogenin
Ruscogenin, also known as pseudophyllidene, was first isolated from the pseudophyllidene tree in the Mediterranean area, and is also one of the main active components of Ophiopogon ophiopogon, a commonly used Yin nourishing Chinese medicine.
The Application & function of Ruscogenin
Ruscogenin has a significant anti-inflammatory effect. One of the mechanisms of Ruscogenin's anti-inflammatory effect may be to block the migration of lymphocytes into the extracellular matrix by interfering with the protein kinase C signaling pathway. Ophiopogonin D and Ruscogenin are the main active components of ophiopogonin, which have obvious anti-inflammatory activity in vitro and in vivo, and can significantly inhibit the adhesion of ECV304 cells to HL-60 cells induced by phoboester in vitro.
It was found that Luscogenin extracted from ophiopogon japonicum had cytotoxic effects on both Hela and SMMC-7721 cells, and thus could play an anti-tumor role.
